You will not stop people from cheating their way into the millionaires club. Its human nature and will always happen. If you stop Ebay they will find another way. You shouldnt be worried so much about what OTHER people are wearing or doing and concentrate on ENJOYING the game. I farm when I feel like it and when I want something I work hard to earn it. Just playing the game is a great way to make IG gold. Random drops you never expected can net you pricey greens and nice golds. Also overfarming leads to your drop rate to crash anyway :P

My problem with Ebay is INFLATION. Injecting a ton of gold into the guildwars economy that wasnt there in the first place. Prices go up and now sword pommel +30's are 70k. Another problem is overfarming of ectos with SS-55 2mans. I mean think about it, ectos are currency and people and loading a ton of ectos into the economy also causes inflation. This makes us hardworking people have to work HARDER to keep up with the rising prices since our gold is so common its not worth anything anymore.

Personally I earned everything I owned since beta, 2 sets of 15k armor dyed black (I dont like FoW too much) perfect weapon sets for all 4 slots, fancy drawbows.... all customized of course.

The thing I love about guildwars is that the game depends on your skill as a player. For example, FoW armor doesnt do jack crap for you.. its just status. So its not like an Ebay queen is going to get any better as a player. Maybe I'm not dressed in EBay wares but still, my experienced playing makes me far more valuable to the party than some Ebayer who thinks that skill is for sale.

So we are running forgemaster and im running a standard W/mo and so is this other guy. Im wearing 15k glads dyed black and a perfect fell, hes wearing all FOW dyed black and a perfect zodiac with a matching shield. Obviously hes way richer than me but the mobs attack and he charges in with flurry and hundred blades while SSed and standing next to the monk. On the other hand, I throw HH on the monk to keep him alive and smite hex the noob war so that he does kill us all while using watch yourself to protect us from the wailing shadow warriors.

Be thankful paying for Ebay gold doesnt make these queens better as players. You all should be thanking ANET for making the game skill based. Think about other games that have uber weapons that people can EBAY in order to make themselves unstoppable because they deal 100429057209582 dmg a hit (*cough* Diablo, *cough* WoW).

Besides inflation, buying FoW or gold off a credit card doesnt make people better, and they look stupid when they play like noobs wearing all that. Inflation and the economy is the bigger issue.

Be glad EBAY doesnt do anymore to make people BETTER than others... all it does it make things expensive and make them LOOK richer. Never assume someone is a good player be their gear, you should be talking to your party members and getting under the surface before a mission to see how they tick, its what the game is all about.

You should always remember that because just because you dont have perfect stuff, and FoW doenst mean your any less of a player. I know plenty of good players with collecters stuff that can chew some ass in this game anyday.

I agree that FoW and such is a measure of wealth. I don't buy things for status, I buy them because I like them. Every weapon I own is tailored to my tastes and my character is not just a big sign saying "look at me im rich."

If you want something so bad go earn it. What fun would it be if there was no drive or challenge for us to earn things? Do you want to come into to town and have people throw perfect fells at your feet? Thats the kind of mindset the EBayers themselves have.

It took me a long time to get what i own, and unlike Ebayers im proud of it. Hard farming and trader to get those items make me a better player, because I had to tinker with so many skills to get the solo to work right. Things are free, its guild WARS so go fight for what you want instead of being emo in some corner because you dont want to go out and earn gold. Kill, maim, and slaughter everything, sell and be a crude merchant, pick up on good deals and sell high, farm endangered species into extinction in the name of your shiny new Jade Sword... its the way of the game. If you want something dont think sitting and ranting is going to get it for you.

Dude! The game has been out for over a year. I think that’s enough time to save up for a set of FOW armor. All you have to do is run some newbie’s for an hour or two a night and do some farming. I see allot of posts where people are complaining about to many millionaires. Well...I say again the game has been online....how long? Expect to see the newbie’s this year with FOW next year and then complain next year that the amount of ppl with FOW armor has doubled since the year before. SIMPLE MATH! Game out for over a year=last years newbie’s with FOW armor.

I don't care who buys on eBay I am happy playing my game and working for my next set of FOW. My hard work is something I can be proud of and I am not concerned about the next guy.

Some guy realized idiots will pay real cash because they are to lazy to PLAY A VIDEO GAME and he is making real money. Good for him.I wish I thought of it first.

Stop whining, let them eBay, I would do the same if I wasn't too lazy for a job. You know ANet can't stop eBaying, it happens in every single MMORPG, so it's really not that strange that ANet can't stop it, since noone can. Like people running around in FoW armor will kill the game, just let them eBay, and let ANet work on stuff that's actually important.

This is a problem spreading throughout the whole gaming world, particularly MMORPG/CORPGs. The reason is simple - the technology is there, and so are theose who exploit. Almost all MMOs start off with a very nice and fair community, but then this slowly gets corrupted, until the corrupted almost outnumber the legit players. I think ANet should try cracking down on this sort of thing.

But you have to remember that the majority of players are legit, and so the majority of those who have FOW armour have probably worked hard enough for it. eBay is simply there for the weak of mind who cannot face the idea of putting some effort in, and so have to resort to paying for pixels.

But tbh it isn't that much of a problem, the eBayer gets what they want, but they waste cash on it, whereas the seller gets a real benefit from his work.

Yep, many Factions armors look better then FoW, and Nightfall armors are going to look even better!

I have no idea why people farm in the desert, you can farm kirins in pongmey walley = 1k euch run. You can farm jacquis aegis and get two greens every day = 20k a day thats 140k a week.

ebaying accounts exist in many games of this type. From buying items on the cheap to PowerLeveling or--if you want--taking the whole bag: fully leveled characters with max items and butt-loads of money.

Its the dirsty side of ORPG, and I'm sorry the OP had to see it.

That said, live learn and move on. phat lewts don't make you a good toon; it just makes you a good spender and a smart buyer. With a proper auction house, maybe your playing field will level somewhat. Until then: live learn and move on.

Also:The guy who was scamming level 2s out of nice items was probably doing exactly what he did to get his armor in the first place. Says the newb: "a rune that would take 75 of my HP just to use it? who would want the???"

When I'm partied with someone, what's important to me is whether they are a good player or not. I don't care what gear they are wearing or whether they ebayed. I'd rather play with a good player who ebayed, than a poor player who didn't.

i recently started playing GW again about 2 months ago. Had no money since i gave it all away when i quit, and now i have 500k in the bank. I also have 15k kurzick dyed black and i earned it all. so it is possible for a warrior to make alot of money fast without buying shit off ebay, you just have to know how

How about you tend to your own facking business and play the game.

How about you actually read the kid's post. Not read and let it fly through the other side of your head, READ IT.
He never accused all, he's speaking in general, and he's right.
Go to Ebay and look for yourself.
Not even Ebay is doing this, has anyone ever come across those 'game gold' sites which specifically sell in-game items for MMOs and the like for real-world gold? It's obscene.

It's true people can legitimately get FoW armor by farming and doing certain things in such a manner that they gain a vast amount of money, I just find it hilarious when people have 8-10 characters, on one or two accounts, and ALL of them have FoW, and ALL of them are dyed full black and they haven't been playing for more than 6 months.
That's a little ridiculous if you ask me. And that's what the OP is saying. He's not accusing EVERYBODY with FoW armor for Ebaying, READ HIS POST AND THINK OF BOTH THE PESSIMISTIC AND OPTIMISTIC SIDES OF IT.

All these people are stating that they themselves legitimately got their FoW, good for you, the subject of the post was focussing on people who DO Ebay their in-game gold and items. The OP didn't ask for arrogant responses.

What I don't understand is how someone in the span of a couple months, can gain an account full of FoW armor with top of the line items solely by farming, EXCLUDING UW and FoW themselves.
Even by farming UW and Fow, I still don't see how people can make so much money in such a short time.
I have been Ettin farming for the last three months and haven't found a single Superior Vigor rune, so as far as I'm concerned, anybody who claims to find more than 2 a run either has extreme luck or loves to make shit up.
Troll and Vermin farming can bring in money, true, but it takes a long time.
Maybe obsessive green-farming, which still puzzles me as to how people get SO many green drops and yet, doing green runs for myself I only ever find one or two in a day, if any at all, but that could be because I usually farm greens with a couple friends, and thus the drop rate is lowered. Blah.

I'm not saying it's not possible to legitimately get FoW anymore, because it is, most definetly. It's when people brag and boast about all their magical ways of farming and making money, or about all the sets of FoW armor they have and how quickly they got it, and yet in a few months, by doing the exact same methods of farming, I find myself making barely a fraction of what some of these people are making. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Whether you have it easy or not, I'm not asking you to flame me with all your annoying responses saying that you got all your FoW sets in a legit way. I don't care. If you have an account full of FoW armor and have been playing for less than a few months, on your whole account let alone a single character, there is something wrong. Sorry.

It makes more sense when a kid casually says to me, "Well, it's taken a lot of time. I've been playing since beta, about [posts hours + months of characters], but after a while things just add up, you get lucky." Compared to a kid that says, "HAHA, NOOB, I've been playing for 4 months and already have full FoW on THREE of my characters. GO UW NOOB. ECTO FTW."

Again, it's the concept of kids having 3 or 4 full sets of FoW armor, perhaps all dyed black, and having gotten them in the span of maybe ... 3 months.
I'm sorry, but in 3 months worth of farming every way possible with as many builds as I could try, taking into consideration the possibilities my character has based on the items and skills I've been able to gather, I've never even made NEAR enough money for an entire set of FoW armor.

Lame.

Wow, all the people posting here are complete MORONS. The eBayers dont post here and everyone knows it for the simple fact that threads like these exist and bash them hard. He is stating that many people in-game have
eBayed gold and he is right unfortunately. In fact, I know over 20 people who have eBayed. Please dont assume you are the only one with FoW and flame the OP, because, lots, and lots, and lots of people have it.

/agree. "Morons" sprung to my mind too. The OP has no problem making money and I think he has multiple sets. Countless people have explained ways to make money whereas he is protesting that botters, organized farmers and scammers are cheating the system and getting away with it. Cheaters get the same results without the time or energy invested therefore his attitude/feelings are justifiable.

The entire point of this post was not to rant about farming conditions, my inability to farm as of late, or anything else some dense people have pointed out. The point was it feels awful knowing that some people have farmed for hours, weeks, days, and in my case months or even years to get their "uber" armor, whereas others get it in 15 minutes (OR LESS!, as some stores offer), not counting the FoW trip to the armor crafter. And to some people, I did not say that everyone who could afford FoW has it, and i'm not on a goddamn soapbox.

it seems as if some of you read the first paragraph and stopped.

So, besides people having the same armor as you, how exactly do ebayers affect you?

So they have the same armor... hundreds of people in this game have the same armor as each other. Frankly, this game is not about uniqueness or originality in looks. Your complaint about ebayers is strictly and utterly about people looking the same as you with only a small fraction of the effort you took. Solution? Don't buy FoW armor. Just like any other 15k armor, someone else has the same exact thing.

Ruining the market? Hardly. Yes weapons are often sold at ridiculous prices, but they will hardly change with less ebayers. Demand for certain things always remain, and with demand comes high cost. GW economy is not ANY different then any other online game, period. OH sure, we can argue semantics, but the basic fact remains that its the same as the next. Anet can only do so much to squeltch the ebay gold business in GW, in a sense, controlling it. They will never and can never completely supress it.

ANother suggestion... Don't play this game to impress others with your looks and farming prowess, instead play the game for your own pleasure, and get the armor that YOU like best. If FoW armor is what you like best so be it, you took the effort to work for that goal, be satisified that you did this. You chose not to use ebay and that's commendable, but if you truely did it for your own satsifaction, ebayers with the same armor wouldn't bother you so much.

This is most people's problem, they care TOO much about what others do. People need to remember that they play a game to entertain THEMSELVES, and therefore should accomplish tasks and look as they wish for their OWN satisfaction. Yes, i do believe Ebaying for in-game gold is a silly thing to do, since you just killed HOURS and HOURS of entertainment for yourself. There is no point to playing a game if you instantly get everything to your hearts content without effort or care. I can honestly say that most if not ALL ebayers are younger kids with the "immediate gratification" syndrome, which all younglings have.

To all that are sick of ebayers ignore them, live with it, and move on. It will always exist in online games so complaining about it accomplishes nothing. Play the game for yourself, and stop caring about them. Enjoy the game and use the in game economy as best you can despite ebayers.

And BTW, the OP seems a little adolescent to complain about something he cleary has no problems with... money. He admits he does nothing BUT farms and has multiple FOW sets, so boohoo? The only thing ebayers hurt are the casual gamer who doesn't farm 24/7. THESE are the people who should have qwalms with ebayers since it makes it almost impossible for the casual gamer from participating in the common market. Although collector items are just as good, better looking equipment is what drives the GW economy, and is left just out of reach for the casual gamer.

If a poor person complained about ebayers i'd respect the thread more. All too often these threads are poor people complaining about MAKING in game gold, or rich people complaining about ebayers shortcutting to what others work hard for... Neither are valid complaints. Harsh, yet true. Poor people want more cash? Take time to learn. Rich people want to look unique? Read this post again, or play a different game.

So how many more repeat threads about ebayers we gonna see this month? I may sound insensitive, but come ... ON!!!
/endrant

cheers!
